Raising Money for Mental Health

Whether this is your first swim or 14th, we’re so grateful for your investment in mental wellness across Newfoundland and Labrador. We’ve put together a few tips to support your fundraising efforts and turn your 5K swim into lasting impact.

Set and share a clear goal today. People love helping you hit a target. Share on your socials – you could post an “I’m swimming” selfie or reel with your goal front and centre, and a link to your fundraising page.

Our overall goal is to raise $50,000 for mental health. With 15 participants signed up, if we each raised $2500 (in addition to our sponsorship) we would get there!

Your friends want you to succeed. Make a list of 10 people who care about you (friends, family, coworkers). Message them today - it takes 10 minutes and it works.

Copy/paste DM:

“Hey! I’m doing The Tickle Swim for Mental Health to support CMHA-NL. Would you consider donating $100 to help me reach my goal? Here’s my link: ____ ”

People donate to people, not just events. Share your “why” in 2-3 sentences.

Template:

“I’m dipping because ________. Mental health matters to me because ________. If you can, please donate and share: ____.”

Even a simple “I’m doing this for someone I love” is powerful.

Add a fun challenge for every $500 raised, like a Training Bingo:

Create squares like “early-morning swim,” “rainy training day,” “new personal best,” or “swim with a buddy.” Unlock a square for each fundraising milestone.

One email can double your total! Ask your workplace about matching gifts.

Copy/paste email:

“Hi! I’m fundraising for Canadian Mental Health Association-NL through The Tickle Swim for Mental Health. Does our workplace have a donation-matching program or would the company consider matching what I raise?”

Updates = momentum. Post when you hit 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%.

Example:

“I’m at $___ of $___ - THANK YOU! If 5 more people give $50, we hit the next milestone!”

Deadlines drive action. Post a final ask in the last week.

“Only a few days until the dip (Saturday, August 22)! If you meant to donate and haven’t yet - this is your sign 💙 Link: ____”

Share your link one more time before you swim - last pushes make a huge difference.

“YOU DID IT. Thank you for supporting my Tickle Swim fundraiser for Canadian Mental Health Association-NL.

Because of you, CMHA-NL can keep supporting mental wellness across Newfoundland & Labrador through education, training, and community programs.

If you still want to donate or share, it’s never too late to boost the impact: ___”

And of course, we are so grateful for YOU. Thank you so much for participating in this event and raising money for Canadian Mental Health Association NL.
